On this day:

My letter to Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL)

Dear Senator Durbin, Your comparison of what occured to a detainee to the Soviet gulags and Nazi death camps was historically inaccurate and morally hideous. You need to be reminded that millions died and were tortured in Hitler's camps, millions died and were tortured under Pol Pot, millions died and were tortured in the Soviet gulags. No one has died and no one has been tortured in Guantanamo Bay. Even if the descriptions you read on the Senate floor were accurate, it was utterly unnecessary to insert such inflammatory rhetoric. Senator, you have lost your sense of perspective and have made the best military in the world the target of your political aims. Many will ask for apologies from you, but I will not. I know that in comparing your country's military to the most vile people in modern history, you meant what you said. Mark Nicodemo
Write to Dick Durbin here. Jeff at ThinkSink writes a letter to Durbin too. Senator Durbin doesn't know what real torture is. My Pet Jawa does, and posts several GRAPHIC images to prove his point.
